How Do Jamberry Nail Wraps Compare To Shellac Manicures?

This is a fab question that is often asked by those used to the durability and glossiness of Shellac. This is how I understand it, although I'm not a nail tech: I just love doing my nails! So I tell them that my opinion is as follows:
1. Like Shellac, Jamberry nail wraps are durable and don't chip. Jamberry nail wraps last up to 2 weeks on fingernails and 4-6 weeks on toenails.
2. Shellac is a hybrid of polish and gel that needs painting on, whereas Jamberry's wraps are vinyl and, for want of a closer simile, are kinda like stickers in that they are ready-made designs in themselves. The nail art designs are already on them so no extra time for art on top is required.
3. Jamberry wraps have a non-toxic heat and pressure activated adhesive backing. As such they don't require special equipment such as a UV or LED lamp like Shellac, just a heater or even a hairdryer.
4. With Jamberry wraps you don't have to apply coats. You cut the design to fit your nail and heat the wrap for a few seconds before applying and after, with pressure. It's really quick to apply them. Watch how easy it can be in the quick video here.
5. Jamberry nail wraps are essentially a DIY product whereas Shellac started as mainly being applied in salons by qualified nail techs, although I'm aware there are special Shellac nails kits on the market these days.
6. Shellac is also known for its wonderfully glossy coating. Jamberry nail wraps come in glossy but also in a range of other finishes, including matte and sparkly.
7. Jamberry wraps are really quick and easy to remove which, from how I understand it, is unlike Shellac. If done correctly there's no damage to nails. Watch how easy removal can be in the short video here.
8. Jamberry nail wraps are also vegan, unlike Shellac, which is derived from the secretion of a kind of bug, I believe.
So, there's pros and cons here, but Jamberry is my favourite for a quick and easy at-home, DIY application.
